Friends of Mar supports Brigada Eskwela

The Department of Education budget – like many other government agency’s – has very little for the maintenance of classrooms, school buildings and other facilities. Like our education system, our facilities break down sooner from the harsh realities of our climate – and our neglect.

Yet a classroom is a structure that has to last at least 30 years if it is to be useful to society. So that our teachers and children do not have to learn under difficult conditions.

This year, the Friends of MAR join hands as a nationwide movement to help our public schools get ready for the start of the new school year in June. From May 20 through 25, 2009, FOMs nationwide will adopt public schools and public school districts and do the minor repairs necessary on these schools.

Our FOMs will rise up to the Brigada challenge, a nationwide voluntary effort of teachers, parents and the community.

What resources are needed?
  • A little bit of donated MATERIALS (paint, cement, lumber, tiles, other building materials);
  • A lot more of volunteer TIME;
  • A whole lot of community SPIRIT.
Be a part of the FOM effort. Join the Friends of MAR chapter in your area and help us make our public schools places for quality learning.

Your country needs you today!
